I finished reading Above Suspicion about a week ago. Have not had a moment to write up the final review until now.
The novel is a reasonably interesting read but not entirely satisfactory . It follows an investigation into series of murders with a main suspect apparent from very early on. I was expecting the book to portray a more or less believable work environment and investigation. If that is the case I was not impressed with the way a new worker is introduced to the workplace nor with the way the police investigate the case. I suppose the big blunder is created in the book in order to build the young new police office into something of a player in the force. This and the way the main officer behaves and conducts the investigation leave me feeling dissatisfied. And then to contrive a romantic/sexual interest between these two characters adds to my dissatisfaction.
I would read other books by Lynda La Plante is one was given to me but I would not go looking for one.
